One of the most popular tourist attractions in the Langtang National Park, the Gosainkunda Langtang Trek is situated in the North-Eastern part of Central Nepal, in proximity to Kathmandu. As a matter of fact, this trek is even visible from the cacophonous valley of the capital of the country.
The Langtang Gosainkunda Trek, is a beautiful trek that takes one through rocky mountainous, pine forests, verdant deep gorges and yak pastures that tell the story of the land of Buddhists and its innate cultures and beliefs. The Trek, therefore, takes one through mystical monasteries, picturesque villages, serene valleys, picture-worthy terraces and pristine glaciers till one reaches the sacred Gosaikunda, a clear, alpine, cool freshwater lake, high up in the majestic mountains of Rasuwa, that fills one with so much awe and beauty that it remains imprinted in one’s mind forever.
The trek of Gosainkunda Langtang, begins with a scenic drive alongside the Trishuli River, North from Kathmandu, via the Trishuli Bazar and Dhunche, till one finally reaches Syabrubesi. Syabrubesi is a small Tamang village on the banks of the Bhote Koshi River, from where one will have to pull up one socks, tie up one’s shoelaces and start the journey by foot long the Langtang River till finally resting for the night at the Lama Hotel. The next morning will see trekkers walking from the Lama Hotel to a beautiful Tamang settlement, the Langtang village. From Langtang village the trek will take you to Kyanjin Gompa, where you will rest in order to acclimatize to the higher altitudes and lower temperatures there. Here you can visit the Yak cheese factory, the mesmerizing Tserko Ri view-point and of course the Kyanjin Gompa Monastery.
From here the trek takes you back to the Lama hotel and then continues into the Langtang Valley to reach Gosaikunda, a sacred lake of Hindus and Buddhists alike, the waters of which are believed to have miraculous healing powers. This part of the journey will take you through Thulo Syabru, Cholangpati before reaching the Holy Lake.
From here the trek take one through the Laurebina La High Pass onto Gopte in the Helambu region, where one will be struck by the ethereal beauty of Mother Nature before descending down to Kutumsang through dense forests of rhododendron, pine and juniper and finally settling down for the night. The next day will see you trekking down to reach Chisapani via Pati Bhanjyang before finally spending the last day of the trek descending to Sundarijal to catch a bus back to Kathmandu filled with bags of lifelong memories.
