A trek into the mountains can be both addictive as well as mesmerizing, once one sees the magnificence of the snow-capped peaks against the azure blue skies, the image of the same can never leave one’s mind and from thence on, like the saying goes, the Mountains keep calling back.
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek raises a similar feeling in all trekkers as they make their way into the lap of the Mountains named after the Goddess of Food (Anna) and replenishment. As trekkers climb to the heights and breathe in the unadulterated and pure mountain air, they not only imprint in their minds the breath-taking beauty of Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Annapurna South, Tent Peak, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna, and Annapurna South, but also feel refreshed and energised, in order to again be able to take on all the challenges that life has to offer with greater fervour. Therefore, do capture these unique moments and views during your trek so that you may be able to take a piece of this beautiful natural painting with you wherever in the world you may go.
Moving on to the Trek, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek begins from Tikhedunga, from whence you will ascend to Ulleri. The entire journey till Ulleri is resplendent with breathtaking views of the mountains and its valleys, interspersed with quaint towns and pristine flora and fauna. The trail may get tough during some parts but the trekker in you will be enthralled by the suspension bridges and the changing mountain landscape, as it moves from green lower altitudes to the more barren higher reaches. Trekkers will find themselves exploring thickly forested areas that include the likes of oak forests, bamboo woods and even the largest rhododendron forest of Nepal. Enthral yourself in the beauty of the National flower of Nepal as you walk under its branches, on the way to reach the laps of the snow-capped peaks.
The trail will pass through Ghorepani and Poonhill, from whence one can catch magnificent views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Ranges, not forgetting the Fishtail Peak that one will cross, that looks onto the tourist town of Pokhara.
Apart from this, the trail takes one through the town of Sinuwa, which in its serenity also offers majestic views of Fishtail and Gangapurna. As the Annapurna Base Camp can be tiring for many and realising that one will need to get oneself acclimated to the heights so as to be able to make the most of the journey, trekkers will get to relax at Jhinu Danda that offers therapeutic hot springs for those who wish to pamper themselves and give a relaxing break to their tired muscles, before continuing their journey to the Base Camp.
This particular trek is considered to be one of the most beautiful treks that Nepal has to offer and one is able to observe diverse changing landscapes, flora, fauna and can even imbibe the rich culture that Nepal has to offer. Apart from this, upon reaching the Annapurna Base Camp, one will be able to witness never seen before mesmerising views of the Fishtail, Hiunchuli, Annapurna Massif, Dhaulagiri, Tilicho, Pisang, Pungda Danda and numerous other peaks.
Overall, this trek which lasts around 14 days takes one to the base of the 10th tallest peak in the world, all the while walking past some of the most spectacular landscapes and awe-inspiring peaks that many across the world travel thousands of miles just in order to scale and conquer them. Please also note, that even though the Annapurna Base Camp trek is long and sometimes arduous, it is less difficult than the Everest Base Camp and thereby much more easily attainable. Apart from this, one will be provided with numerous tea houses to rest at and lots of time to acclimatise oneself, making it as comfortable as possible for one who is trying to conquer this trail. Upon finishing this trek, one will finally be able to go back home with a bagful of memories that will remain with them for a lifetime.
